SALAM

Whenever I give my salam
to Muhammad salalahu 'alaihi wa salam
I hear the surrounding together with me
convey our salam to the beloved Prophet
thus I supplicate to ALLAH Subhana Hu Wa Ta'ala
perhaps one day from this salam
the Prophet will appear before me
when I withdraw into the night to ease my mind
that is one of the greatest gift from Him
Most Esteemed, Most Divine.

IT IS IN THIS HALL

IT IS IN THIS HALL

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
students of different
nationalities, backgrounds and ethnicities
seeking new pathways through education to attain felicity

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
professionals of varying
citizenships, families and racial categories
making new headway into life through intellectual exegesis

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
many of us here hide in our rooms to study
hardly mix around and integrate with others
into a melting pot of identities I profoundly worry

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
opportunities to understand each other
are abound if we could see with a visionary sight
for we are the future leaders of a global community

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
hope for a better future of humanity
are there to be nutured and developed
for we are the beacons of unity and a bright future indeed

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
if only we could move out from
the comfort zone of nationality and ethnicity
the problem of prejudice and biasness will erode certainly

It is in this hall
that I witness and I see
prospect and challenges for us to take heed
for it us that will lead our society soon it will be
come let us be together in this pursuit of integrating
before the curtains of this hall draw upon us eventually.

Where am I

Where am I
when I compare
with those have gone pass
into the realm of
intellectual discourse
initiated and incepted into
the circles of esteem
producing standard works
and euphoric couplets
for that is where I want to be
a near future I hope I shall be in.

I WAS ONCE 23

I was once 23
completing my studies
waiting to venture
into the working community

I was once 23
wondering what was ahead
waiting to test me
and now I know with certainty

I was once 23
reflecting back the last ten years of my life
for I am now 33, I shall be ready hopefully
like I was when I was 23.

AM I AT THE DOOR

Am I at the door
of the entrance
into the garden
of the pious

Am I at the door
of the entrance
into the realm
of the sinner

I am on the doors
on my right is
the domain of the righteous
on my left is
the abode of the wrong-doer

O Lord! Guide me
to be the one
who knocks at the door
of the pious and righteous
until it comes a time
when the door I am at
opens with salutation of peace
for certainly it is
ever-lasting felicity I have achieved.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Yesterday passes by
what can I do about it
since the day has gone by

Today is going by
I can do something about it
before the day goes by

Tomorrow will come by
let me prepare for it
I shall be delighted as it passes me by.

Never Have I Imagine

Never have I imagine
to be at ANU among the many applicants
enrolled in a world class faculty
a postgraduate degree in sight I am sure

Never have I imagine
to be under the guardian and protection
of Anthony Milner whom I have met once for a chat
are you still there and reading this email dear Sir?

Never have I imagine
that it is Peter Borschberg
who will guide me to a place of self-discovery
at ANU he say I will be intellectually better

Never have I imagine
to be embraced by a lady of of good-heartedness
it is Siaan Matthews of penetrating intelligence
with friendly love, caringness and comforting words she makes me feel near

Never have I imagine
to be embraced by a lady of consistent concern
for the listening ear, motivation and advice she always give
it is Mary Kilcline Cody whom I referring to here

Never have I imagine
to write 24,000 word essays in one semester
covering Islam, security, propaganda and asia-pacific
I must perservere to do well for the training is for the future

Never have I imagine
that all that I have never imagine
is now a possibility due to His Grace and kindness from those names above
pray for me dearest well-wishers for I need it to achieve the reason why I am here.
