Future of Civil Society in Singapore

Civil society in Singapore has the prospect to be an important consultative process of a democratic and republic country. With the term civil and society in one expression , it informs us the critical notion that those in this alternative platform must maintain civility at all times. Yet, when one of the members of this civil group falls out of boundary of civility and others in it fail to watch-over anyone who expresses vulgarised thoughts in defamatory words, civil society becomes a liability to democratisation and republican ideals. It is hence incumbent that the training of becoming an intellectual be shared with those in this platform of civil society if we wish to maintain the critical role that civil society can play in the country.

What we desire is democracy. But if democrazy is the result of uncontrolled passion for politics, then the resultant containment of political voices becomes proper as social harmony is the right of those who wants peace.
